Harley K. Croessmann linguistics collection, 1902-1936.

The linguistics collection of the late Dr. Harley K. Croessmann, formerly a DuQuoin optometrist, consists of printed material related to international and artificial languages. The collection is arranged alphabetically by author and includes such languages as Esperanto, Interlingua, Occidental, and Basic English. The collection includes printings by C.K. Ogden, G. Peano, Edward Sapir, and Max Talmey. Four volumes autographed by Paul Hugon, and a personal letter, written in Esperanto, from G. Peano to Dr. Croessmann are also included. The collection would be useful to anyone interested in discussions on artificial and international languages taking place early in the twentieth century. It is also particularly useful for the many documents either translated or originally written in the artificial languages.
